New York – March 1st 2024 – Zanmi Lapolis welcomes the signing of a reciprocal agreement between the governments of Haiti and Kenya. This agreement paves the way for the deployment of Kenyan police to support the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti. As an organization dedicated to building a safer Haiti, we recognize the urgent need for assistance as communities continue to face the devastating effects of gang violence.
While the MSS offers a necessary short-term intervention, we remain committed to our belief that lasting solutions must address the root causes of insecurity. Haiti’s challenges are multifaceted and complex, requiring both security measures and long-term investments in strengthening institutions, promoting social and economic development, and fostering a culture of peace.
As such, we extend a heartfelt invitation to the Haitian diaspora to join us in pursuing these holistic and sustainable solutions. The diaspora’s collective expertise, resources, and unwavering commitment to Haiti are invaluable assets in the effort to break the cycle of poverty and violence and forge a brighter future for the nation.
Zanmi Lapolis remains dedicated to our mission of working with Haitian communities to improve public safety and prevent crime We continue to strategically partner with the Haitian National Police (HNP) to enhance their capacity through infrastructure, technology, and transparency initiatives. We also champion community programs that directly empower Haitians on the ground.
We believe that through collaboration within Haiti, the support offered by initiatives like the MSS, and the active participation of the Haitian diaspora, progress towards a safe, just, and prosperous Haiti is within reach.
